Barbecue & Bazaar

This is our traditional annual fundraiser to support missions. Held the first Thursday of every November, great food, great fellowship and great causes all come together.

Camp Tekoa

Our annual church-wide retreat is held the third weekend of August at our conference's camp near Hendersonville, North Carolina.  The weekend is a time for people of all ages to relax and worship together.

Chapel Communion

Every Wednesday night at 6:45 in our peaceful, elegant Chapel, Holy Communion is served everyone.

Crazy 8's Dinner Club

This is a wonderful, cross-generational fellowship opportunity. Groups of about 8 adults makes their own plans to eat out or in a home once a month. The groups change every quarter.

Fourth of July Festival

Hotdogs!  Fellowship!  Fireworks!  Plan to unwind on a July afternoon and celebrate our nation's birthday in the church parking lot.

Miller Class Breakfast

The best breakfast in town is the second Sunday of each month right here in Evans Hall at 9 am. Open to everyone and sponsored by the Miller Sunday School Class, a full breakfast is served.   Donations are used to support our miissionaries.

Recreation

HLUMC has the oldest standing gym in Charlotte. Pickup basketball games are open to the community on Monday and Thursday nights.   In addition, our church sponsors two church league teams - softball in the summer and basketball in the winter months.

Lunch N' Learn

Every quarter, the Evangelism ministry team offers a light lunch in Evans Hall for informal conversation, a Q&A time with the ministers and guided tour of our entire facility.  Open to all but especially for visitors and newcomers.

Sunday Luncheons

If we're meeting, we're eating!  Because many of our members drive some distance to attend Hawthorne Lane, we frequently have after-worship, church wide lunches sponsored by different groups in the church.   Homemade desserts.  Great fellowship.  Convenient.

United Methodist Men

This intergenerational group of men meets at 8:30 am on the third Saturday of each month for breakfast and a program.  In addition, many of these men work on handyman projects around the church.

United Methodist Women A unit of a world-wide mission connection. the UMW meets monthly in 4 different circles.  Quarterly, all United Methodist Women meet for special programs.
